Indian REITs Association Names Alok Aggarwal as Chairman to Boost Sector Development
The Indian REITs Association (IRA) has announced the appointment of Alok Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO of Brookfield India Real Estate Trust, as its new Chairman.
Founded in 2023, the IRA is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the growth and advancement of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) in India. The association’s founding members include notable names such as Brookfield India Real Estate Trust, Embassy Office Parks REIT, Mindspace Business Parks REIT, and Nexus Select Trust.
In a statement, the IRA highlighted Aggarwal’s vast expertise in the real estate sector, particularly in REITs, and his strong leadership credentials. “Aggarwal’s deep industry experience and leadership will be invaluable to the IRA. Under his stewardship, we plan to collaborate closely with SEBI to facilitate sectoral growth, safeguard investor interests, and maintain robust regulatory standards,” the statement said.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the new role, Aggarwal noted that his appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Indian REITs, which have secured a significant position in the country’s capital markets and are on the brink of substantial growth.
“I am eager to work alongside industry leaders and stakeholders to drive innovation, enhance transparency, and deliver value to investors. Together, we can contribute to the sustainable growth and resilience of REITs in India,” Aggarwal said.
Aggarwal, an alumnus of IIT Delhi and ISB Hyderabad, brings a strong academic foundation to his extensive career in real estate, which spans over three decades. He has previously held leadership roles at esteemed organizations, including Sun Apollo Capital Partners, Milestone Capital Advisors Ltd, DLF Universal Ltd, and Mahindra Gesco Developers Ltd.
